Pucker Up! — February 14, 2021

Pucker Up!

Three things to do in February for lip enhancement

1) Lip filler.  There are a number of products ranging from Juvederm Ultra to Restylane Kysse to enhance lips, decrease lip lines and perk up the corners around the mouth.

2) Topical creams and gels.  These products give a temporary smoothing and plumping and take effect in minutes .

3) The much touted Lip Flip to perk up your lips and reduce smoker’s lines.  This is accomplished with small amounts of Botox.

If you want great lips, try all three!

Best Time to Get Filler and/or Botox?   — May 17, 2020

Best Time to Get Filler and/or Botox?

When is the best time to get filler and/or Botox?

Hopefully, we will all be getting out more soon, and birthdays, weddings, parties and celebrations will happen again.  So, how should you time your cosmetic regimen?

Botox lasts for approximately three months. It can take up to 7 days to take effect. and may have some bruising. So, consider having the procedure done 2 to 3 weeks before a big event. That also gives you time to correct for any uneven or asymmetric results as well.

Dermal fillers, such as Juvederm, should also be done a good 2 weeks before a big event event. Fillers last for 1 to 2 years, but are more likely to have associated bruising or swelling.

So plan ahead and get ready for summer!

Botox, Nutox, Dysport or Xeomin? Which is right for you?

Recently, there have been multiple ads for “Nutox,” which is really a marketing strategy for the new product Jeuveau. All of these products are neurotoxins used to treat lines and wrinkles in the upper face. Check out all four with Ark-La-Tex Dermatology. We can navigate the similarities and differences in all four products, explain their loyalty programs and keep you up-to-date on specials. If your current toxin isn’t doing it for you, come in for a free consultation.

Newtox vs Botox — August 14, 2019

Newtox vs Botox

Most people think that Botox is one product.  There are actually 4 different neurotoxins in the U.S. that help us smooth out the fine lines on the forehead and around the eyes.  All are similar, but sometimes one may work better for you. If your Botox isn’t working as well as 2 years ago, you may need to increase your dose or try a new product such as Dysport, Xeomin, or Jeuveau.  At Ark-La-Tex Dermatology, we have all four and Jeauveau is available at a reduced price during August!

Sweating—When More is Not Better. — May 7, 2019

Sweating—When More is Not Better.

Excessive sweating, or hyperhidrosis, is a common skin problem that is worse in summer.  If it is severe enough to interfere with your lifestyle, consider these options:

  1. Drysol, a prescription strength topical antiperspirant will solve most problems, but is very drying and may irritate.
  2. Qbrexa is a newer topical that is less irritating and can be wiped on.
  3. The best treatment and longest acting is Botox, which is great for the underarm area, but is the most expensive.

All three are available at ArkLaTex Dermatology.
